Quality Control

Quality Control is an integral part of our manufacturing process. We have a highly sophisticated quality control laboratory with state-of-the-art machinery, staffed by highly trained and experienced Food Technologists.

The quality control department ensures that our rice has the most desirable characteristics in terms of quality, while at the same time performing specialized tests, in collaboration with Certified Laboratories, in order to certify that the harvest is free of: pesticides and harmful toxins – such as aflatoxins, heavy metals, and pathogenic micro-organisms –and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

By placing great emphasis on the quality and high standards of its products, our company invests, on an ongoing basis, in the area of quality control. Thus, we have made great advances in the use of: advanced colour selection machinery for separating white grains from coloured grains, chambers that perform ecological fumigation of our products prior to the standardisation stage, as well as modern metal detectors and x-ray devices for the detection of any foreign bodies in the final packaging of our products.

In addition, our company works closely with outside bodies and academic institutions to stay up-to-date on current research pertaining to rice and on all new methods being used.

At our company, the quality control process begins with receipt of a sample from the truck transporting the unprocessed raw material. If detailed testing has not been carried out and the sample is not certified as meeting the predetermined specifications for our products, we do not take receipt of the raw materials for processing.

From the sample, the basic characteristics of the product are examined, such as: its moisture content, the presence of any foreign materials, the presence of other types of seeds, the percentage of broken, non-intact grains, as well as the weight, colour variation, and whiteness of the grains.

Upon completion of all of the above organoleptic and non-organoleptic tests, the raw material is received, stored and concurrently dried, followed by processing and standardisation.

It should be noted that sampling is carried out at every stage of manufacturing, and we proceed to the next stage of production only if the Quality Control Department has approved the sample.

Finally, in parallel with quality control, daily maintenance is carried out on our machinery, as well as inspection of the packaging materials to be used in the standardisation stage of the finished product.
